Every year, the FIA runs it’s karting academy trophy alongside the KZ and KZ2 events in Europe. With the world focused on the start of the 2020 season, the CIK have jumped the gun and released their 2021 calendar, with a few new circuits gracing the calendar. For the second season in a row, the OK and OKJ championship will kick off at Zuera, Spain with Genk and Sarno remaining on the calendar for 2021. Yesterday, the CIK announced that the 2020 World Championships for the OK and OKJ classes will no longer be held in Brazil. The event was set to make it’s debut in South America this year in CIK president Felipe Massa’s home country. Thanks to the events of the last couple of months, that’s no longer possible. The most prestigious championship’s in the world of karting have started changing their venues. The CIK FIA European championship and World Championship in KZ, KZ2 and the Karting Academy class will no longer head to Le Mans. Thanks to the ACO cancelling the 24 hours of Le Mans, and re running it in September, the Le Mans circuit won’t be available to host the KZ World Championships from the 10th-13th of September. The Lennox Racing team, run by former world vice champion Jordan Lennox-Lamb will be running the new Charles Leclerc chassis from next year. Since the team’s inception in 2016, the team has always run the OTK built Exprit chassis. Now, the team will make the switch to the Birel-Art built Leclerc machine, receiving the full backing of the Birel-ART factory.
