Featured News Super One Series

It’s back to the 90’s for Super One

The popularity of ‘historic’ karting has boomed in the last few years, with 100cc screamers now having many places to race, including F100, NKC and Retro Racer. Now though, they will also have a home in the Super One Series.

Formerly the home of the British championships, Super One has been looking for ways to bring in the numbers over the last few years, with the addition of the ROK classes and a move away from Motorsport UK proving to be successful for them over the last few years. For 2023, they will introduce their ‘Super 100’ category.

Like many series, they will have a ‘Pre-95’ and ‘Pre-2000’ classes, with Pre 95 for kart homologated in 1994 or earlier, and Pre-2000 for during 1997 or earlier. The series is open to Rotary or Reed valve engines, which have been the mainstay of the British scene for the last few years and (of course) they must be direct drive only. The class is open to seniors only, with a minimum weight of 151kg for driver and kart.

The class will use the same LeVanto KRT slicks as the ROK classes. As with the rest of the Super One classes, tyres are limited to a single new set of tyres per meeting, these must be ordered through the organisers at around £145 per set.

The series will feature at 5 of the 6 rounds of the Super One Series in 2023, with the classes just skipping the season finale at Shenington in August. The events will effectively be a single day affair, with practice available on a Saturday and all of the races taking place on a Sunday, the format featuring a qualifying session, 2 heats and a final. Entry fees are set at £185 per round for Saturday & Sunday with additional Friday practice available at each round. There is also a £150 registration fee that must be paid before the first round.
