The Junior Max class provided some of the closest races of the weekend, with the races regularly going down to the final couple of laps. It also helped that the whole field was rediculously close. Around Whilton Mill, the location of the opening round, the Mini Max class are around a second per lap off the Juniors. Every year, the FIA runs it’s karting academy trophy alongside the KZ and KZ2 events in Europe. Open to drivers aged 12-14, the grid consists of drivers nominated by their countries governing body to represent the country. A total of 40 young drivers will contest the championship. Maya Weug named FIA Girls On track rising stars winner

After months of training and evaluation, Belgium’s Maya Weug has been announced as the winner of the FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars Programme. Organised between the FIA and the Ferrari Young Driver Programme, it will see the 16 year old become the first female signed to the Ferrari young driver programme.
