Super One sends top 3 in every championship to Lonato

At the weekend, Super one hostesd its annual awards evening to consider with Autosport International. Here all the champions were crowned and the seeded numbers for 2019 were handed out.

That wasn’t the only thing handed out at the awards ceremony, as each of the top 3 in every championship recieved a golden ticket to the ROK International finals later in 2019. That means names like Oliver Hodgson, Abbie Pulling, Morgan Porter, Joe Turney and Lewis Gilbert will be just a few names eligible to race in the finals.

The ROK International finals are similar to the event held by Iame at Le Mans, where the best drivers in the class come together to decide the best in the world. This year saw drivers from all over the globe contest the title at Lonato in October. Last year saw just 1 British driver at the event. Coskun Irfan qualified for the event through the Italian ROK cup, finishing 12th out of 143 entries in the Mini ROK Class.

Thanks to Super Ones partnership with the Vortex ROK program, it will be possible for more British stars to head to the International final, or the ‘Rok the Rio’ event in the USA. The Rok the Rio event is held on a temporary circuit in the car park of the Rio all Suites hotel, much like the Skuza Super Nationals.

There seems to be quite a lot of interest in the ROK Cup for 2019, Honda Cadet Champion Alfie Rigby confirmed as an entry in the Mini ROK class. How many of 2018’s champions will take up the offer of racing at Lonato remains to be seen, but the series is looking strong for its debut in Fulbeck in March.
