Bambino Kart Club announces 2019 calendar

The Bambino kart club, which has fast become the place to start a drivers karting career, has announced its 2019 calendar.

The series which caters for drivers from 6 years old will race at 7 circuits, contesting 8 rounds over the course of the year. The calendar is below:

Round 1 – March 30th/31st – Whilton Mill
Round 2 – May 4/5 – Rowrah
Round 3 – May 25/16 – Llandow
Round 4 – July 6/7 – Larkhall
Round 5 – July 27/28 – Rissington
Round 6 – August 10/11 – Rowrah
Round 7 – August 31/ September 1 – Fulbeck
Round 8 – October 12/13 – Wombwell

The series will also share the track with the Super One Series during round 2, 4 and 6 which should provide good exposure for the future champions of UK karting. The rest of the series will run alongside the National Kart Cup (NKC) which runs classes for TKM Extreme and Senior Rotax.

Again, the series will feature two cadet classes as well as the popular Honda Cadet class. The top class is the Iame bambino series, using the M1 engine where the young drivers are able to race wheel to wheel. There is also a Comer class which uses Pooled engines and also runs to a time trial format. The engines are supplied by the BKC and are regularly dynoed, tuned and managed to ensure that no driver gets the same engine twice.

They also run a Honda Cadet class running the same model as the Comer class, but allowing the drivers to race. The Hondas also have a system where if an engine wins at 3 weekends in a row, its withdrawn to avoid having ‘Favourite engines’.

There are also some big prizes on offer, which differ year on year. In 2014 the champion received a fully funded drive in the FKS championship, valued at over £35,000. There is no news on the prizes for the coming season, but they should be well worth battling for.

Registrations for 2019 open soon, so to find out more or to register your interest, head to the BKC’s website.
