Rotax Grand Finals to be held in Portugal in January

Thanks to Covid 19, pretty much every championship in the world has had to adjust it’s calendars.

Recently, the Rotax Euro trophy announced a new calendar, which removed PFi and added a round at Campillos at the end of the season. The date slated for the event overlapped with the original date for the Grand Finals, which were due to be held in Bahrain in November. That lead to speculation that the grand finals date would change.

BRP have now announced that the event will take place from the 23rd to the 30th of January, with the venue moving to Portimao in Portugal. This is after the CIK FIA World Championships and the Iame International Games (which replaces the International Finals) were also moved to the same circuit.

Speaking about the change, BRP-Rotax General Manager , Peter Oelsinger said: “This unique global situation has forced us to reconsider the annual highlight of the Rotax karting calendar. As organizer of the biggest karting event in the world, our top priority is the health and safety of our drivers, their families, and all team members, as well as our employees and the local organizing staff. We have therefore decided to postpone the RMC Grand Finals until January 2021.”
