Impressive start for Argenti Motorsport

It’s not often that a new team arrives on the scene and immediately goes after a European title. But, that is what happened when Argenti Motorsport burst onto the karting scene.

The team has been set up by Mercedes Formula One team sporting director Ron Meadows. The team will be present at national and international level with a solid team of drivers in their KartRepublic machines. The team have partnered up with Double R racing to provide an true pathway into car racing within the team. They have also been putting the Mercedes connections to good use, giving their drivers a day at Whilton Mill with Mercedes junior and Williams F1 driver George Russell. The team are so new on the scene that they are still waiting on some of their team gear.

The team rocked up to their first international event of the season with 3 drivers. Their target: The Iame Winter Cup. The team’s squad of Archie Walker in juniors alongside Tyler Read and Morgan Porter in seniors were well positioned for a good result. Porter would of like to of been in contention for the win after finishing 5th in last year’s event, while Read was making his senior debut.

Things started off slow for them, with Walker qualifying 25th out of 53 drivers while Porter and Read were outside the top 30 in the capacity senior X30 field. It was in the races where they impressed. Walker managed to climb up to 4th in his final heat, a feat that Porter matched in the seniors. Front fairing penalties would put dampener on their weekends leaving Walker 15th and Porter 9th after staring 18th in the final.

The Pre-final and Final were Tyler Read’s time to shine, climbing 19 places in the pre-final before moving from 11th to 4th in the final behind Oliver Bearman, Dean MacDonald and Daniel Nogales, leaving Argenti just 1 second off the podium on debut. If these are the early results coming out of this team, then expect to see big things when the Euro series and British championship kick off in a few months.
